Hi guys,

Not sure if I have put in this forum the guide about steeping. So here it is:

I read in the forum quite a lot of posts about steeping & maturing your newly brought liquids. There is a lot of mis-information out there that in some cases would deteriorate your liquid rather improving it. I have put a simple guide as an advice:

Synthetic liquids
Synthetic liquids using man made flavourings that would start deteriorating from the moment you first open the bottle. Some more, some less. As a general guide, a synthetic liquid 20-30 days after opening would taste like flat coca cola. It is also quite common that certain flavourings within the mix may deteriorate faster than others. As a result a new bottle of a sweet & sour liquid for example, may taste only sweet after few weeks of opening.
Despite all the above; Synthetic liquids would benefit (only slightly) from maturing but do not open the bottle. Once it arrives simply keep it sealed for about a week to allow the flavourings to settle nicely. Once you are ready, shake it well before opening and leave it open 5 minutes before its first use.

Organic Liquids
Some organic extracts (depending on the extract) may use and contain alcohol in order to achieve an organic certification. The steeping / maturing process for those liquids should follow the exact rules as synthetic liquids because after the alcohol evaporates the liquid is loosing about 10-20% of its sharpness.

Natural Liquids
Natural Liquids need air to mature so the steeping process is to leave the bottle open for a short period. As a guide, about 24 hours. Just like a fruit left in the kitchen for few days to ripe, natural liquids improve a lot by steeping in comparison with synthetic liquids that the improvement is minimal. The downside in being natural is that few weeks after opening are starting go off, or over-ripe. To prolong their life you can keep it in a fridge, or even a cold but dark and dry garage for example.

Real Tobacco Liquids
The older it gets the better! The best treat for me is finding a small bottle in the bottom of a draw left there for years. Divine! Real tobacco liquids need to be left open for up to a week and then keep in a dry cool place with the lead on for as long as you can wait.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE NOTE:
1. All liquids when kept sealed and un-opened would remain in stable condition for years as long as they been kept cool, dry and dark.
2. The self life of all liquids are according to the law 2 years from the day of manufacturing the oldest ingredient used for their production. That is what the Best Before stands for. However, it doesn't mean that you cannot use them or that are not good. Simply means that they cannot be sold.
3, Direct sunlight would destroy any liquid within hours. Heat is damaging but in prolong periods.
